What is mental health?
Mental health is the quality of our emotional and mental state. For example,if someone had bipolar, they would have a poor quality or condition of their mental state. Whereas, someone who had no mental illness would have a high quality or good condition of their mental state.
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, mental health is “a condition of being sound mentally and emotionally this is characterized by the absence of mental illness and by adequate adjustment, especially as reflected in feeling comfortable about oneself, positive feelings about others, and the ability to meet the demands of daily life.” (Merriam-Webster, Mental illness)
WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH ILLNESS?
According to psychiatry.org – “Mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking or behavior (or a combination of these). Mental illnesses are associated with distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities.”(What is mental illness? 2018)
Types of Mental Health Illneses
There are many types of mental health illnesses. They can range from severe to very mild. Some mental illnesses are only found in children, and they can outgrow them, while others are found in both children and adults. (mentalhealth.gov, What is mental health? 2022)
